Shock and Awe

"The US army said it gave the main Iraqi oil well firefighting contract to a unit of Halliburton Co., a firm once run by Vice President Dick Cheney, without any bidding."

Looks like this turf war is going along as planned years ago by the military-industrial complex (Chiefly Richard Perle, who resigned today.). Now the first contracts are being given out by the Bush junta to their powerful business friends.

To say this is about liberating the Iraqi people is naive. It is a land grab by the US and British Petroleum companies. Naturally the French, German, Chinese and Russian governments would be upset. They want a piece of the pie too.
