He swims. He gnaws. He builds dams. He moves us with his intelligence and grace. He is the Wily Beaver. And he is here to INTUBATE us all.

The more Kim tells me about her family, the more hyperreal they seem.
"Hyperreality is significant as a paradigm to explain the American cultural condition. Consumerism, because of its reliance on sign exchange value (e.g. brand X makes you cool, car Y means you’re rich), is the contributing factor in creating hyperreality. Hyperreality tricks the consciousness into detaching from any real emotional engagement, instead opting for artificial simulation, and endless reproductions of fundamentally empty appearance. Essentially, fulfillment or happiness is found through simulation and imitation of the real rather than through reality itself."

Examples of hyperreality
- a sports drink of a flavour that doesn't exist ("wild ice zest berry")
- a plastic Christmas tree that looks better than a real Christmas tree ever could
- a magazine photo of a model that has been touched up with a computer
- almost all video games
- a well manicured garden (nature as hyperreal)
- Disney World and Las Vegas
- pornography ("sexier than sex itself")
- The stock market
Speaking of wanting more, I came across some interesting things in my web searching yesterday.
One was Timothy Leary's 8-Circuit Model of Consciousness.
Curcuit 4 is the Social-Sexual Circuit. This circuit is concerned with operating within social networks, and the transmission of culture across time. This circuit is said to have first appeared with the development of tribes. Leary never associated a drug with it, but later writers have associated it with MDMA and Ecstasy.
Curcuit 5 is the Neurosomatic Circuit, the first of the left-brain, "higher" circuits which are inactive in most humans. It allows one to see things in multi-dimensional space instead of the 4 dimensions of Euclidean space-time, and is there to aid in the future exploration of outer space. It is said to have first appeared with the development of leisure-class civilizations around 2000 BC. It is associated with hedonism and eroticism. Leary says this circuit is stimulated by marijuana and Tantric practices, or simply by experiencing the sensation of free fall at the right time.
Leary claims that this model explained, among other things, the social conflict in the 1960s, where the mainstream, said to be those with circuit 4 active and characterized as tribal moralists by Leary, clashed with the counter-culturists, said to be those with circuit 5 active and characterized as individualists and hedonists.

Thank you for the Birthday wishes. It was a wonderful one, thanks in large part to Kimmie, my friends, and family. I'll be in recovery and hiding until further notice.
I feel for you and your Mom, Monica. Mostly bad. But the hair will grow back and already the family has talked openly much more just how much they love and cherish their mother and wife (and grandmother).
I'm grateful this Thanksgiving for many things, among them the ability to be so ungrateful for what I have, and taking my luxuries for granted. I'm grateful that I can bitch, whine, and moan about how others have it so good and I don't. I love being ignorant.
Thank you Lord for giving me so much...But I want more.

ahh Post # 2 down the hatch!!!
Margaret... my mom goes back in for a 4 day round of chemo on the 13th. She will go in for 4 days in January and February also.
She will probably lose what hair she has left. But that's no matter!!
She feels good most days. She has gotten her Christmas shopping done and made me lunch today!
What a woman!
Everything else seems to be okay.
She's my mom!
