Yes, dear I'll pick you up for Thai tonight.

Illness is difficult to deal with, but in it's strange way it does bring people back to what is important. Our love and prayers are with you and your mother, Monica.

One of my favorite sci-fi books ended with the main charachter experiencing a heavy bout of synaesthesia. Alfred Bester was the author. It had one of those awesome titles from the 40s/50s: The Stars My Destination (1956)

I was so young when I read it, I can hardly remember it. Must read it again. A good x-mas gift if anyone is paying attention.

"Gulliver Foyle, Mechanic's Mate 3rd Class, is the only survivor on his drifting, wrecked spaceship. He endures 170 days alone in deep space before being noticed by another space vessel, the Vorga. When the other ship ignores his distress flares and sails by, Gully Foyle becomes a man obsessed with revenge. After finding refuge with the forgotten Scientific People on the Sargasso Asteroid, he returns to Earth to track down the crew and owners of the Vorga. But, as he works out his murderous grudge, Gully Foyle begins to uncover a secret of momentous proportions..."

"Original title: Tiger! Tiger!"

I want to read another book of his: The Demolished Man.
