To Tingle or Knob Twiddle, That is the Question
In honor of Eric's stimulating paper on the purpose and function of art in society (By the way Eric, post that paper to the blog for peer review, analysis, and discussion.), and considering the Marshall Macluhan post below, I wanted to ask "What do you think is the best purpose, function, and goal of electronic music?"
I'm listening to my favorite electonic Internet radio program right now, Mobius, and it makes me tingley with sweet buzzing joy. The experimental sounds, the abstract scapes and soundscapes, the hypnotic and pulsing beats: What is not to love?
He swims. He gnaws. He builds dams. He moves us with his intelligence and grace. He is the Wily Beaver. And he is here to INTUBATE us all.
